Welcome to Hot
Rods by Steve, LLC
In 1995 while attending college for Architecture, Steve Dembinski
spent his nights designing and working into the night. This effort was
not set forth on that related to Architecture but rather one of
another love. The love for custom automobiles. After the days college
sessions Steve would find himself in a rented 2 car garage late into
the night. What emerged was a show piece Jeep Wrangler like none other
Steve or his friends and family have seen. After debuting the Jeep at
the 1997 4 Wheel Jamboree in Bloomsburg PA competing with over 3500
Trucks, it was apparent Steves efforts paid off. The Jeep claimed
several awards that year including Best Paint, Best Engine, Best
Chrome, Best Induction, and Best Suspension to name a few. The Jeep
also appeared in several national publications.
Steve got a lot of influence from his father Ken who has always “had
some sort of toy” around. Growing up his father had everything from a
’34 Chevy Street Rod to a motorcycle to a 9 second Camaro that he
still drives. Through the years, they have built a few custom rides
together before turning their efforts to a much bigger picture in
2003, when they set fort to build a 1967 Chevrolet Nova. The intent
was to show their car building capability by creating something
versatile on both the street as well as the drag strip not to mention
on the show field too. With help from a few friends, the Nova was
built in 18 months and exceeded both their expectations. Awards the
Nova collected that first year included Best Engine, Best Interior,
Best Pro Street and Best Nova not to mention being photographed for
and featured in Chevy Rumble magazine July 2005. The Nova was featured
on the cover, a two-page table of contents spread (a Chevy Rumble
first) and 5 page article inside.
It wasn’t long before people started asking Steve to build them a Hot
Rod. After more than a few refusals, one man was persistent enough to
persuade Steve to do just that. In 2005, Hot Rods by Steve LLC. was
established and the first vehicle built officially under the new
company’s name, was Dan McDonald’s 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS. The
Impala project dubbed “Low 64” debuted at the 9th Annual Good Guys PPG
Nationals in Columbus Ohio, July 2006 and received the prestigious
Maguire’s Magnificent Masterpiece Award. In its second showing, the
Low 64 collected top honors at the Hot Rod Reunion show in NJ by
receiving an Ida Automotive Top 10 Award and Best in Show.
